Star Wars is an icon of our society. While the story is pure fantasy, a lot of “fun” math can be derived from this epic saga. How long does it take to travel from Coruscant to Tatooine with the Millennium Falcon? Why does Yoda flip before striking with his Light Saber? How much energy is in a Light Saber anyway? How much power does it take to destroy a planet? Galactic shattering questions like these will be addressed in this workshop. Topics presented here are suitable for Math 143, Math 171 and Math 172.

Math is such a cool subject. In itself pure, but applicable everywhere! However, I am also an electric car enthusiast and would love to see our energy dependence shifted to renewables.
